Hamas Leader Warns of Dangerous Escalation at Al-Aqsa Mosque During Ramadan

Haroun Nasser al-Din, a member of the political bureau and head of the Quds Affairs Office of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), warned of escalating calls by Temple Mount groups to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan, considering it a dangerous escalation in the context of the religious war waged by the occupation against Islamic holy sites.

In a press statement issued Wednesday and received , Nasser al-Din said that the demands issued by Temple Mount groups to storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan constitute an escalation in the enemy’s religious war against Islamic holy sites, aiming to violate the sanctity of the place during the holiest month for Muslims.

Nasser al-Din pointed out that these calls coincide with acts of harassment and expulsion of worshippers and Qudsis, as part of an occupation plan to Judaize the mosque, aiming to change the status quo at Al-Aqsa, empty it of worshippers, and forcibly impose a temporal and spatial division.

He warned of the consequences of these fascist practices, which would lead to further escalation and a flare-up of the situation on the ground in Quds, emphasizing that any infringement upon Al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line.

The member of the political bureau affirmed that “our Palestinian people and our people in Quds will not allow these plans to be implemented, and will continue to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque, no matter the sacrifices, for Al-Aqsa is a matter of faith and identity that is not open to compromise.”

He called for increased visits to and presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially during the month of Ramadan, and for a unified Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic stance to protect the holy sites and halt the settlement expansion.
