Ayatollah Khamenei: No Place for American Hegemony… A New Equation for Gulf Security
In a message marking National Persian Gulf Day, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that the Gulf region is currently under the influence of the imposed American-Zionist war. He emphasized that this stage represents a crucial turning point in shaping the region’s future and its new equations.
He explained that the vital waterways of the Gulf are the lifeblood of the region, and that its security can only be achieved through reason and effective cooperation among the region’s countries, free from any foreign presence or colonial powers. He affirmed that the Islamic Republic prioritizes the principles of collective security, shared development, and respect for the full sovereignty of nations in its strategy.
He pointed out that the Iranian people, with their historical support and national capabilities, have always emphasized good neighborliness and mutual respect. He noted that Iran views the Gulf states as partners in a shared destiny that rejects foreign interference.
Mr. Khamenei asserted that the American enemy is the primary cause of the instability plaguing the region, emphasizing that some 90 million Iranians are utilizing their full potential to defend their country and national resources, just as they defend their land and air borders.
Regarding strategic waterways, he declared that the Strait of Hormuz equation will benefit all nations, affirming that Iran, by virtue of its administration of this vital waterway, will secure the Persian Gulf region and will work to end any violations targeting it.
He stressed that the new legal frameworks and administrative practices pertaining to the Strait of Hormuz will lead to stability and progress for the peoples of the region and bolster economic prosperity, within the framework of a comprehensive Iranian vision for restructuring Persian Gulf security free from foreign domination.
He explained that the Islamic Revolution constituted a historic turning point in the resistance against hegemony and the pursuit of Persian Gulf independence, noting that the steadfastness demonstrated by the naval forces of the Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reflects a firm rejection of foreign control.
In direct messages, Mr. Khamenei stated that “the future of the Gulf will be bright without America,” adding that the region is capable of achieving progress and prosperity for its people free from foreign interference, and emphasizing that there is no place for covetous foreigners except at the bottom of the Gulf.
He considered the series of victories achieved by Iran in the past period to be the beginning of the formation of a new order in the region and the world, based on the independence of regional decision-making and a balance of power, far removed from policies of hegemony.
Mr. Khamenei reiterated that Iran, along with its neighbors in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman, shares a common destiny, which necessitates strengthening regional cooperation to confront challenges and preserve security and stability.
