Iranian Foreign Ministry: Using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage to support the Lebanese front

Ali Safari, an advisor to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, confirmed that Iran has made a strategic decision to use the Strait of Hormuz as leverage to support the Lebanese front, stressing that Iran’s priority is to stop the war, open the strait, and end American maritime piracy.

He explained that talk of stability cannot be realistic while the fronts continue to ignite, especially in Lebanon, where he considered that any disregard for this fact means the return of war again.

Safri pointed out that Iran did not want to use the Strait as a bargaining chip, but the American attacks forced this option, stressing that Washington could no longer exploit the Strait to launch attacks on Iran and the countries of the region.

He revealed that Tehran is in contact with all countries bordering the Strait, and has proposed collective security arrangements within the “Hope” project to enhance maritime stability.

In a related context, Safari explained that Iran responded to all the provocative American steps in the Strait, and that the lack of trust in the Americans is a natural result of their contradictory behavior, adding that all wars end with negotiations except with America, where negotiations end with wars.

He also confirmed that his country had received an American response to the Iranian proposal and was studying it, despite pessimism about the seriousness of these steps.

Safri stressed that the UAE is among the countries that participated in the war on Iran, and that Tehran has documents and evidence to prove this, noting that some countries in the region opened their territories to American aggression, while working to submit draft resolutions to the Security Council to condemn Iran.

He argued that the current stage presents everyone with only two options: negotiations or war, stressing that America is well aware that it will not get any concessions from Iran.
