The leader of the revolution: Boycotting is an effective weapon for the nation… and economic liberation begins with local production.
The leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, affirmed that the weapon of boycott represents one of the most important effective weapons in confronting the enemies, calling on the nation to restore its economic awareness and free itself from dependence on foreign powers, and to seriously move towards local production and self-sufficiency.
In his fifth lecture of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah of the year 1447 AH, within the series “This Qur’an guides to that which is most upright,” the Leader stressed that the dependence of nations on their enemies for their basic needs, especially food, turns them into a bargaining chip in the hands of hostile powers, which use blockades, boycotts, and economic pressure as a primary weapon to subjugate and control countries and peoples.
He explained that America and the Zionist enemy realize the danger of the boycott weapon and its great impact in the field of conflict, and therefore they constantly employ it against free and independent countries, citing what Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Cuba and other countries of the world have been subjected to in terms of economic blockade and systematic sanctions.
The leader pointed to the dangerous paradox of many Arab and Islamic regimes adhering to the economic boycott in accordance with the American vision and interest, while ignoring the use of this weapon against the enemies of the nation, stressing that the reality of the nation would have changed radically if it had adhered to the Qur’an and its teachings as much as it adheres to American dictates.
The leader criticized the economic policies based on imports and consumption, considering that neglecting local production has led to the economic weakening of peoples and turning them into consumer societies that depend on foreign countries for their most basic needs.
He pointed out that the excessive reliance on imports has reached dangerous levels, to the point that even the simplest and most trivial products are being imported with hard currency, which has led to the depletion of national wealth, the weakening of the local economy, the deepening of unemployment, and the loss of the spirit of production and work.
He stressed that a true economic revival can only be achieved through comprehensive practical and productive action, in which national capital is directed towards domestic investment, employment of the workforce, and utilization of local resources and raw materials, noting that an essential part of addressing the economic and living crisis lies in moving towards self-sufficiency.
The leader also stressed that sovereign oil and gas wealth remains under the control of enemies who are depriving the Yemeni people of benefiting from it, as part of an economic war and blockade that he described as the most severe on our country compared to many Arab and Islamic countries.
He explained that the boycott represents a collective responsibility on the nation, as it is a means available to all people and does not entail any harm, especially with the availability of alternatives and the ability to support national products, stressing that the boycott contributes to moving the wheel of the local economy, employing the workforce and benefiting from the available economic resources.
In discussing the reality of economic dependency, the leader pointed out that most Arab money and wealth goes to the benefit of the enemies, criticizing the Gulf regimes, which are the biggest consumers of goods from Zionist transcontinental companies, even going so far as to directly promote the products of the Israeli enemy within some of those countries.
He stressed that the enemies’ view of the Islamic nation is based on exploitation and depletion, citing former US President Donald Trump’s description of Saudi Arabia as a “milking cow,” considering that the enemies of the nation want it to remain a source of wealth and money until it is completely depleted.
The leader called on free and conscious media outlets to focus on spreading the culture of boycott and explaining its great impact in confronting enemies, and to promote awareness of the importance of moving towards local production and economic liberation, considering this an essential part of the nation’s battle against American and Zionist hegemony
