Gaza Caught Between Aggression and a Medicine Crisis: A Humanitarian Catastrophe Under Siege

As the Zionist enemy continues its escalating aggression against the Gaza Strip, the dimensions of the humanitarian catastrophe endured by the Palestinian people are becoming clearer day by day. This catastrophe is not only exacerbated by daily bombardment and killing, but also by a systematic policy targeting the basic necessities of life, most notably the health sector, which is now facing the threat of complete collapse.

A Medicine Crisis

In the latest chapter of this suffering, the Palestinian Ministry of Health warned of the depletion of 726 types of medicines and medical supplies. The Ministry emphasized that the enemy’s continued withholding of clearance revenues has worsened the financial crisis and weakened the health sector’s ability to provide essential medical care.

The lives of thousands of patients, especially those with cancer, kidney failure requiring dialysis, and chronic illnesses, are now directly threatened due to the severe shortage of life-saving medicines and treatments. Warnings have been issued of catastrophic repercussions that could affect various health services in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

This situation has led to the postponement of thousands of surgeries and the disruption of many specialized medical services, reflecting the immense pressure on the Palestinian healthcare system amidst the ongoing aggression and blockade.

Continued Raids Despite the Agreement
On the ground, the Israeli enemy continues its violations of the ceasefire agreement by launching repeated raids and shelling on various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Gaza City witnessed a series of raids targeting residential apartments and populated areas, resulting in martyrs and wounded, including women and children, continuing the policy of targeting civilians that has accompanied the aggression since its inception.

The attacks extended to areas in the central and southern parts of the Strip, coinciding with artillery shelling, military movements, and heavy gunfire, confirming that the enemy continues its policy of escalation despite the announced agreements.

Children at the Heart of the Targeting
On the International Day of Children Victims of Aggression, Hamas reiterated its demand to the United Nations to include Israel on the blacklist of entities that violate children’s rights.

The figures reveal the scale of the tragedy endured by Palestinian children. More than 21,000 children have been killed during the ongoing genocide in Gaza, while tens of thousands have been injured, and tens of thousands more have lost one or both parents.

The suffering of these children is not limited to death and injury; it also includes displacement, starvation, and deprivation of education and healthcare, in one of the greatest humanitarian disasters the modern world has witnessed.

Suffering Behind Bars
In Israeli prisons, the suffering of sick prisoners continues due to deliberate medical neglect and the denial of necessary treatment and healthcare.

The Prisoners’ Media Office confirmed that many prisoners in the Negev and Gilboa prisons are suffering from deteriorating health conditions due to medicine shortages, poor living conditions, and the ongoing policy of abuse against them, which exacerbates their health problems and directly threatens their lives.

An Open-Ended Humanitarian Catastrophe
Indicators issued by Palestinian institutions confirm that the health sector is facing its most critical phase since the start of the aggression, given the rising number of martyrs and wounded, the continued siege, and the prevention of sufficient medical supplies from reaching the area.

Between the deadly bombardment and the blockade targeting medicine and food, the circle of human suffering in Palestine widens, while the Palestinian people continue their steadfast resistance in the face of a war targeting their existence and basic rights, amid growing calls for the international community to assume its responsibilities and stop the ongoing crimes and violations against civilians.
