Mecca is a red line… Sana’a renews its pledge to defend the holy sites and affirms its commitment to the September 21st approach in confronting hegemony and arrogance.
In a magnificent display of faith and national pride, Al-Sabeen Square in the capital, Sana’a, was packed with hundreds of thousands of Yemenis who gathered in a million-strong public march in support of Islamic holy sites and in condemnation of the insult perpetrated by the criminal American President, Donald Trump, against Mecca. This popular stance reflected the deep connection of the Yemeni people to the nation’s holy sites and religious principles, and reaffirmed that Yemen, which regained its free decision thanks to the September 21st Revolution, will not stand idly by in the face of any targeting of Islamic holy sites or insult to the symbols of the true religion.
The march was not just a passing protest event, but rather appeared as a broad popular declaration confirming that Mecca is a red line that cannot be crossed, and that the Yemeni people, who have carried the banner of defending the nation’s causes during the past years, are still firm in their principled positions in the face of American and Zionist projects that target the nation, its holy sites, its identity and its consciousness.
Widespread public anger in defense of the holiest of Muslim sanctuaries
From the first hours of the march, crowds poured into Al-Sabeen Square, raising pictures of Mecca and slogans of disavowal of the enemies of God, stressing that the insult to Islamic holy sites is not a passing incident or an individual stance, but rather comes within the framework of a systematic war targeting the Islamic religion, its symbols and holy sites.
The participants affirmed that the people of Yemen, the land of wisdom and faith, will remain faithful to their covenant with God and His Messenger, adhering to the Holy Quran, raising the banner of jihad in the cause of God, and ready to defend Islamic sanctities no matter what the challenges and sacrifices may be.
The masses also declared their full readiness to confront all American and Zionist schemes targeting the Islamic nation and seeking to undermine its holy sites and collective identity, considering that the recent insult to Mecca represents a new link in a long series of intellectual, cultural and political attacks targeting the Muslims’ faith and holy sites.
The chants of the seventies… the voice of a nation that rejects humiliation
The chants that resounded from the crowds reflected the nature of the messages that the Yemenis wanted to convey to the world, as voices rose chanting: “To whom does glory belong? Say to God… and to those who follow the path of God,” “The Yemeni people are present… in the face of the infidel Trump,” “The Kaaba is the House of God… and America is the enemy of God,” and “Mecca is a red line… and America is the Great Satan.”
The chants also emphasized that the issue is not related to a momentary stance, but rather to a firm ideological and moral position against all forms of targeting of Islamic holy sites, while other slogans expressed the unity of the nation’s issues and the interconnectedness of the confrontation arenas, by emphasizing support for Palestine, Lebanon, Iran and the axis of resistance in confronting the American-Zionist project.
The crowds also chanted: “From Sana’a to Tehran… Congratulations on the victory to Iran,” “Iran has triumphed and the axis… and Palestine will be liberated tomorrow,” “We have united all the squares… and our determination and steadfastness have increased,” and “O Lebanon, O Palestine… all Yemenis are with you,” in a clear expression of the Yemenis’ adherence to the equation of unified squares and unified destiny in the face of enemies.
The march’s statement: a firm condemnation and a warning against the dangers of silence.
The statement issued by the million-strong march, which was read by the Mufti of Taiz Governorate, Sheikh Alawi bin Sahl, came to express the Yemeni popular position that rejects and strongly condemns the repeated insults targeting the sanctities and symbols of Islam.
The statement affirmed that the Yemenis’ going out into the squares came in response to God Almighty and out of anger for the sanctities of the Islamic nation, which are being targeted and abused continuously and systematically by global Zionism and its tools.
The statement stressed that the recent insult to Mecca is but one link in a long chain of attacks targeting the Holy Quran, the Messenger of God, Muhammad, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, and various Islamic holy sites, with the aim of undermining their status in the hearts of Muslims, separating
