The National Committee for the Affairs of Prisoners and Missing Persons expressed its deep regret over the irresponsible forces of the Saudi-led coalition and their paid-militia towards the file of human prisoners, which includes the suffering of thousands of prisoners and missing persons from all sides.

The committee said in a press release that the efforts exerted during the last period collided with direct intervention by the UAE authorities, which controls large parts of the south as well as dozens of secret prisons in Mukalla, Aden and Yemeni Islands, and that the largest number were transferred to Abu Dhabi, preventing any types of communication with them.

Furthermore, it explained that a large part of the prisoners from the Marib province front were in the hands of Saudi Arabia and were moved to the prisons of Abha.

The committee blamed the other parties for the failure of the exchange process that was hoped to be accomplished during the month of Ramadan, as the committee had started handing over lists containing all the prisoners it has, but the other parties affiliated with the Saudi regime and under their pressure, did not fulfill their promises to hand over their statements.

“This should not remain being subjected to politicization, selection and manipulation of time”, committee said.

Moreover, it noted that it had succeeded in conducting some exchanges of prisoners, detainees and local authorities but unfortunately they are quite limited, however; efforts would continue to be made at various levels, both domestic and international, and through human rights and humanitarian organizations.
