Dozens of rebel fighters were killed and buried as the Syrian Army bombed their tunnel in a battleground suburb to the east of the capital.

According to a military source, the SAA’s Republican Guards – who spearhead the offensive in east Damascus – were able to spot a tunnel used actively by the terrorist rebels in Ayn Tarma subur.

The elite forces then started the arduous task of digging up another tunnel underneath the rebels’. Once completed, the Army’s engineering units filled their tunnel with explosives and detonated it. This has completely blew up the rebels tunnel.

The same source confirmed the death of all fighters inside the tunnel. “Some were killed immediately, others buried alive under the rubble. In a nutshell, no one came out live,” he continued.

Battles continue to rage in eastern Damascus as the government forces attempt to re-control two key insurgent bastions.
