Earlier today, infighting erupted between Turkey-led militant factions of the Euphrates Shield operations room in northern Aleppo.

The clashes have so far resulted in nearly a dozen dead and wounded among the ranks of Turkish-affiliated mercenaries.

At the time the clashes were being reported, it was still unclear why Turkey-led militias in northern Aleppo – hitherto well unified under Turkish Army command – had engaged in clashes with one another.

However, according to sources, the reason for the infighting is competition for control of market assets throughout rebel-controlled northern Aleppo.

Reports say that one of the most lucrative profit mechanisms in northern Aleppo is the control of border crossing points where taxes and tolls are imposed on traders who transit goods to and from different regions in Syria ruled by other polities.

This explanation co-insides perfectly with the clashes that occured today since it was Free Syrian Army-linked rebels who tried to seize border crossing points held by the Shamiah Front terrorist faction near Kurdish PYD-run territory.
