The Democratic presidential candidate criticized Washington’s policies of Donald Trump’s government in supporting Saudi Arabia ,saying the United States supported the genocide in Yemen.

The Democratic candidate and prominent American writer, Marianne Williamson ,condemned the Trump government’s policies towards Saudi Arabia in the war against Yemen.

“We support the massacres committed by Saudi Arabia in Yemen,”  Tens of thousands of Yemenis suffer from hunger , and Yemen’s children are being killed for it, she told NBC News in an interview with NBC News.

“In order to get a $ 350 billion arms deal, we gave a blank check to Saudi Arabia, and it’s time for the United States to lead the world’s moral leadership,” Williamson said.

“We have to look for peace. Even Donald Rumsfeld, the US secretary of defense under George W. Bush, was also talking about peace. That’s why I want to create a” peace “ministry in the future US government.

According to a UN report, the war and brutal blockade by coalition forces killed 729 Yemeni children in 2018 alone.

In March 2015, the US -backed –Saudi-led coalition started  a war against Yemen with the declared aim of crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement, who had taken over from the staunch Riyadh ally and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, while also seeking to secure the Saudi border with its southern neighbor. Three years and over 600,000 dead and injured Yemeni people and  prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country, the war has yielded little to that effect.

Despite the coalition claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

More than 2,200 others have died of cholera, and the crisis has triggered what the United Nations has described as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
