Hodeidah… Destruction of 140 Landmines Left by the Aggression in Al-Hali District

The branch of the Executive Center for Mine Action in Hodeidah Governorate destroyed today 140 anti-vehicle landmines left by the Saudi–American aggression, which had been discovered in Field No. (3) in the Al-Ahwad area of Al-Hali District, as part of ongoing clearance operations to secure residential areas and movement routes.

The branch director, Colonel Yahya Sabr, explained that the destruction operation was carried out by the second platoon after the emergency team and demolition team prepared the mines for disposal, due to the fact that the area is populated and includes several roads leading to large villages, which posed a serious threat to civilians and their property.

He noted that the operation comes within the framework of the campaign to facilitate the return of citizens to areas that have been cleared of mines and war remnants, stressing that the center continues its field operations despite the obstacles and difficulties facing implementation on the ground.

Humanitarian Efforts Amid Major Challenges

Sabr affirmed that these humanitarian efforts are being carried out under major challenges, foremost among them the scarcity of financial support and logistical difficulties, especially given the wide spread of mine contamination and war remnants. He pointed out that work continues according to available capabilities in order to save lives, reduce the number of victims, and mitigate the effects of contamination on affected communities.

He emphasized that sustaining and expanding these efforts requires strengthening humanitarian partnerships and increasing financial and logistical support in line with the scale of existing contamination, contributing to accelerating land release and building a safer future for communities affected by mines and remnants of the aggression.

The destruction operation was attended by the center’s Emergency Team Officer, Mohammad Dahman, along with a number of specialists.
