Palestinian Prisoners’ Media: Brothers Hazem, Samer Awad Face Heavy Sentences, Starvation, & Isolation in Zionist Prison

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office stated on Tuesday that brothers Hazem Qasem Awad and Samer Qasem Awad are living harsh detention conditions inside the Israeli “Nafha” prison, facing heavy sentences, near-total isolation from the outside world, and ongoing policies of starvation and isolation.

The office explained in a statement, reviewed by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), that the family of the two prisoners from the village of Kafr Qalil, south of Nablus, is facing the tragedy of dual detention, amid escalating fears as the state of emergency continues and laws targeting prisoners’ lives are legitimized. Hunger and isolation have become among the most prominent tools of repression inside Zionist prisons.

It clarified that prisoner Hazem Qasem Awad (43 years old) is sentenced to life imprisonment plus 20 years, while his brother Samer Qasem Awad (47 years old) is serving a 40-year prison sentence. Both are detained in the Zionist Nafha prison.

The office noted that the two prisoners suffer from complete isolation from the outside world, as their family has been deprived of visits, and no reliable information about their health condition is available, with total ignorance of their situation since the start of the “starvation war” inside Israeli prisons.

It confirmed that the living conditions are harsh and include severe emaciation, hunger, extreme cold, and continuous repression, amidst stringent punitive measures.

Regarding legal follow-up, the Prisoners’ Media Office pointed out that only one visit through a lawyer has taken place since the outbreak of the Zionist war on the Gaza Strip, and it carried misleading information before any communication or legal follow-up was subsequently cut off, exacerbating concerns about the fate of the two prisoners.
