UNRWA Adviser: War on Gaza continues in other ways despite ceasefire
The media adviser for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Adnan Abu Hasna, stated that the war on the Gaza Strip continues but in a different way despite the ceasefire, amid the ongoing humanitarian suffering, the spread of diseases, and the extensive destruction of infrastructure.
Abu Hasna confirmed in press statements on Thursday that Gaza could return to square one if this situation continues, especially as conditions have not improved dramatically as expected after the ceasefire, according to the “Quds Press” agency.
The UN official viewed the statement issued by some European countries and Japan regarding the escalating humanitarian situation as expressing the reality of what is happening on the ground in the Gaza Strip.
He explained that everyone expected improvement after the ceasefire, but this has not happened at all; rather, the situation is extremely dangerous despite the direct bombing having somewhat stopped.
Abu Hasna pointed out that “Israel” will not be satisfied with preventing UNRWA from bringing in 6,000 trucks loaded with food and humanitarian materials but will add dozens of international non-governmental organizations to the ban list.
He said that these organizations are active in the relief and medical sectors and that their absence from the scene would exacerbate the situation in Gaza and make it more dangerous.
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has committed crimes of genocide, siege, and starvation in the Gaza Strip for more than two consecutive years since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 71,271 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 171,233 others, until today, in a non-final toll, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, unable to be reached by ambulance and rescue teams.
A ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10 of last year, after a two-year continuous Zionist war of genocide. However, the Israeli enemy army practices daily violations of the agreement and still prevents the entry of the majority of humanitarian aid into the sector.
