The House of Representatives announces its full support for the armed forces’ options and holds the Saudi regime responsible for the escalation.

The House of Representatives affirmed its full support for the legitimate national positions and choices taken by the armed forces in defense of the homeland and its sovereignty, stressing that the measures taken come in response to the just demands of the Yemeni people, foremost among them ending the blockade imposed on Yemen, and holding the Saudi regime fully responsible for the repercussions of its military escalation and the continuation of its crimes against civilians and civilian facilities.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the council explained that the position of the armed forces represents an inevitable response to the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people, foremost among which is lifting the blockade imposed by the Saudi regime for nearly twelve years, which has caused the greatest humanitarian catastrophe the modern world has witnessed, in full view of the international community.

The statement indicated that the Saudi regime, instead of responding to calls for peace and humanitarian entitlements, chose to proceed with the approach of escalation and aggression, continuing to target civilian facilities and objects, starting with the aggression against Sana’a International Airport, and reaching the targeting of the city of Hodeidah, its port and Kamaran Island, within the framework of a policy aimed at doubling the suffering of the Yemeni people and tightening the siege on them.

The House of Representatives considered the continuation of the blockade and aggression to be a criminal act that is unacceptable by all standards, stressing that the Yemeni people and their armed forces have the legitimate right to take all appropriate options and measures to deter aggression, defend national sovereignty, and restore legitimate rights.

The Council held the Saudi regime fully responsible for the consequences of this dangerous escalation, warning that the continuation of aggressive policies would threaten the security and stability of the region, and that the Saudi regime would bear full responsibility for any resulting repercussions.

The House of Representatives called on Arab, regional and international parliaments and parliamentary unions to take responsible positions regarding what the Yemeni people are being subjected to, to condemn Saudi intransigence and aggressive practices that have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, and to reject attempts to circumvent previous agreements, ignore the implementation of the roadmap, and obstruct efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just peace.

The statement also called for serious pressure to be exerted for the full opening of Yemeni ports and airports, and for an end to the blockade, as a humanitarian priority that should not be subject to bargaining or political calculations, in order to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and lift the restrictions imposed on them.

In closing its statement, the House of Representatives stressed that the siege and starvation of the Yemeni people is unacceptable and cannot continue under any pretext, affirming that Yemen’s sovereignty, security and independence are red lines that cannot be compromised or violated, and that supporting options for defending the homeland will remain a firm stance in the face of aggression and the siege.
