A New Statistic for Killed and Wounded Yemeni Civilians by Saudi American Airstrikes: Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights

Amid the rubble of a targeted house by the Saudi-led coalition and right from the scene of Attan’s crime, the Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights confirmed that 10 thousand and 373 citizens were killed by the direct bombing of the coalition, while the number of those who died as a result of the indirect Saudi war and siege has reached 247 thousand citizens due to lack of medicines, spread of epidemics, malnutrition and kidney failure.

“There is no legal loophole that allows Saudi Arabia to target civilian homes, close airports and prevent medical and relief assistance,” Human Rights Minister Alia Faysal Abdul Latif said in a news conference in the capital Sana’a on Friday.

Moreover, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Rights reviewed the statistics of the victims of the US-backed Saudi war on Yemen beginning from 26 March 2015 to 28 August 2017, and the number of killed civilians reached 10,373 citizens, including 2130 children and 1813 women.

In addition, the statistics explained that the Saudi war and siege caused the death of 247 thousand citizens due to lack of medicines and the spread of epidemics such as measles, cholera, malnutrition and other diseases like renal failure.

At the press conference, Minister of State for Dialogue and National Reconciliation Ahmad Al-Qana praised the role of the Ministry of Human Rights in monitoring violations and crimes of of the Saudi-led coalition.

For his part, the acting representative of the International Labor Organization Ali Dahaq said that the bombing of houses in the neighborhood of Attan and the targeting of Arhab Hotel come included in a series of violations of international and humanitarian law.
