The Syrian Army has defeated a considerable attack by ISIS in the northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor province, leaving only dead terrorists from all the forces which partook in it.

Following the Syrian Army’s lighting advance to the town of al-Tabani on the western bank of the Euphrates River yesterday, ISIS militants quickly managed to launch a counterattack.

In its assault to retake the town, ISIS deployed mechanized forces.

However, units of the Syrian Army’s veteran Baath Brigades grouping stationed in al-Tabani were geared up and unleashed heavy fire on approaching ISIS forces.

After brief clashes, the Syrian Army succeeded in the withdraw of ISIS attackers, without any advancing from the attackers.

During the clashes aforementioned, the Syrian Army destroyed two improvised armored personnel carriers as well as a tank belonging to ISIS and killed and wounded about a dozen of them.

The Syrian Arab Army is expected to continue its way to the western bank of the Euphrates towards Syrian forces stationed in southern Raqqa province in the upcoming days.
