Yemen’s PM Calls for a Neutral Team to Deal with Foreign Exchange Rates

Yemen’s Prime Minister, Abdul Aziz Saleh bin Habtoor, called on the UN Secretary-General’s envoy, who is currently in Sana’a, for forming a joint technical team to control the aspects of foreign currency exchange rates.

Bin Habtoor said, ” we want to keep the economy and the livelihood of people away from military and security confrontations and political conflicts,” according to Saba News agency.

Bin Habtoor stressed on the readiness of the government of salvation to build confidence through the formation of the neutral group, which will arrange and address foreign exchange rates and work to spare citizens more burdens resulting from monetary instability and economic deterioration

He expressed his concern about the rise in the dollar exchange rate against the Yemeni Riyal, and its direct negative effects on citizens’ lives.
