An official source at the Foreign Ministry condemned the statement made by British Ambassador to Yemen, Michael Aron, during an interview with Al-Jazeera channel, in which he explained that “the decision demanding the departure of the aggression forces belongs, only, to the Yemeni people and the Yemeni government.”

The source noted that the British ambassador forgot the most important reasons for the continuation of military operations against the forces of the Saudi-led coalition is based on the rejection of the Yemeni People, Army and Popular Committees for any foreign presence on its territory.

He affirmed that preserving national sovereignty is a political and popular demand of Yemen. In reference to the British Ambassador statement on the situation of the South, the official source explained that “the UN-envoy reiterated on more than one occasion and in media meetings that the priority in the current efforts is to work towards reaching a comprehensive political settlement and sustainable peace serving the Yemeni People.” Subsequently, any other cases or grievances concerning Yemenis, within their framework and under a unified Yemeni umbrella, as stipulated in all Security Council resolutions and statements, may be considered subsequently.

The source concluded his statement by stressing the welcoming and accepting of the international or regional efforts to end the Saudi-led coalition and lift the siege to reach a peaceful political settlement. This does not mean giving the opportunity or acceptance of foreign interference in the internal affairs of the country and neglecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen.
