Vice-Head of the UN Coordination committee along with several members of the UN Ceasefire and Redeployment Committee on Saturday visited the Salif and Ras Issa ports in Hodeidah.

The UN team was briefed on the situation at the ports and the willingness of the national party to implement the terms of the agreement signed in Sweden and to respond fully to the efforts of the United Nations in this regard.

The visit of the UN team aimed to discuss the mechanism of coordination between the United Nations and the Department of Ports to achieve full cooperation with the United Nations teams on the road to the re-operation of these ports besieged by the forces of US-Saudi aggression coalition and to provide facilities to the international teams to carry out any future steps related to the agreement signed in Sweden on these ports in a smooth, organized and successful form.

The Saudi kingdom and its coalition declared a war against Yemen on March 26, 2015. The coalition members included: Saudi, UAE, USA, UK, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal and Sudan. Malaysia, Djibouti, and Pakistan joined the coalition later. Other countries provided their support to the coalition through the sale of weapons, logistical and/or intelligence services.

These include: France, Eritrea, Somalia, Spain, Germany, Canada, Finland and Australia. In June 2017, the Saudi coalition expelled Qatar from the coalition. And on June 28, 2018, Malaysia left the coalition.

The United States has been involved for four years in the coalition war on Yemen.
