The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that their forces had suffered more than 64,000 casualties during their four year war with the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).

According to the numbers released, over 26,000 Iraqi soldiers and military personnel were killed and at least 28,000 more were wounded during this brutal war.

As of December 2017, the Iraqi Armed Forces have liberated all of the areas occupied by the Islamic State, including the terrorist group’s former de facto capital, Mosul.

The Iraqi Armed Forces are now conducting counter-terrorism operations inside the liberated cities to clear potential sleeper cells.
