Israeli forces detained at least five Palestinians during pre dawn raids on Wednesday in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

In the central West Bank district of Ramallah, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians from the village of Niilin.

Meanwhile according to PPS, Israeli forces detained one Palestinian each from the districts of Hebron, Jenin, and Jerusalem.

Locals told Ma’an that the detained Palestinian from the Hebron district was from the al-Arroub refugee camp, and identified him as Izz al-Din Muhammad Khalid al-Uweiwi.

Sources added that during the raid on al-Arroub, Israeli forces searched 12 homes and confiscated three vehicles.

“This brings the total number of Palestinians Israel detained since the beginning of the protests that followed US President Donald Trumps’ recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on December 6 to 620, including 170 minors and 12 women” the group said.

Israeli raids into Palestinian towns and villages are near daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

According to the UN, between December 5 and the 18th, Israeli forces carried out 162 search and arrest operations in the West Bank.
