U.N. Official : 7 Civilians Killed, Eight Wounded in Airstrike on Hospital in Sa’ada
At least seven civilians were killed and eight others injured as a result of an air raid targeting on Tuesday a hospital in the district of Kitaf, Sa’ada province, the U.N. humanitarian coordinator in Yemen Lise Grande said.
In a statement, Grande said reports from the region showed difficulty in the rescue operations for victims.
She stressed the importance of protecting hospitals and health facilities. “This is not a voluntary commitment, but a fundamental responsibility on all sides,” she said.
“The cholera epidemic has started to spread like wildfire all over the country. Over the past three months we have seen the deaths of 200 cases and more than 110,000 suspected cases due to the epidemic spread.
“It is unreasonable to destroy such facilities when people are in desperate need of them,” she added.
