Human Rights Ministry on Tuesday strongly denounced the arrest of two human rights activists by the Saudi-led coalition forces, backed by the US, at Sayoun airport.

Radhiyah al-Mutawakil and her husband Rashid al-Faqih both run an NGO human rights organization and were arrested in Sayoun airport on Monday.

“Such actions violate international human rights laws,” said the ministry, calling for an instantaneous release of the activists.

Southern cities, including Sayoun which is part of southeastern Hadramout province, have been under the control of the coalition forces, led by the United Arab Emirates, since late 2016.
