The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Sunday it has sent a team to provide emergency health care after the Saudi-led coalition attacked a prison for war detainees.

“An ICRC team carrying both urgent medical supplies that can treat up to 100 critically wounded persons and 200 body bags to be donated are on their way to Dhamar province, Yemen, following airstrikes which are reported to have killed or wounded dozens of detainees,” the organization said.

“We have visited detainees in this location before, as we do in other places as part of our work,” said Franz Rauchenstein, head of delegation for the ICRC in Yemen.

“We are taking these reports extremely seriously. I am on my way to Dhamar in Yemen to assess the situation,” he said on Twitter.

Early Sunday, the Saudi-led coalition launched seven raids on a prison for war detainees north of Dhamar province. More than 150 people were killed and injured in the massacre, while the process of recovering bodies of victims is still ongoing.
